Introduction
HiveTrack is a beekeeping hive management app developed by IronFrame Studio, based in Belgium. This privacy policy explains what data the app handles, how it is stored, and what rights you have under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
We designed HiveTrack with privacy as a core principle: your data stays on your device, and we have no access to it.
What Data Does HiveTrack Collect?
HiveTrack does not collect, transmit, or process any personal data on external servers. All data you enter remains exclusively on your device.
The types of data you may enter within the app include:
- Hive and apiary information — names, notes, and management records
- Inspection records — observations, dates, and notes about your hives
- Treatment records — details of treatments applied to hives
- Feeding records — type, quantity, and dates of feedings
- Queen status — queen-related notes and tracking data
- Harvest records — honey and other harvest data
- Photos — images you attach to hives or inspections, stored locally on your device
- GPS coordinates — optionally provided by you for apiary locations; these are never automatically collected
HiveTrack does not collect:
- Personal identification data (name, email, phone number)
- Device identifiers or hardware information
- Usage analytics or behavioural data
- Location data without your explicit input
- Any data from other apps on your device
How Is Your Data Stored?
All data is stored in a local SQLite database on your device. Photos are stored in your device's local storage. No data is transmitted over the internet.
- No cloud storage or syncing is used in the current version.
- No user account is required to use the app.
- No internet connection is required.
Your data is protected by your device's own security measures (screen lock, encryption, etc.). If you uninstall the app, all locally stored data — including the database and photos — will be deleted.
Third-Party Services
HiveTrack does not use any third-party services, including:
- No analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics)
- No advertising frameworks
- No crash reporting services
- No social media integrations
- No third-party tracking of any kind
Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, or transfer your data to any third party. Since all data remains on your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else, there is nothing to share.
Your Rights Under GDPR
Even though HiveTrack does not collect or process personal data on external servers, we want you to be aware of your rights under the GDPR as a user in the European Union:
- Right of access — You can view all your data directly within the app at any time.
- Right to rectification — You can edit any data you have entered in the app.
- Right to erasure — You can delete any or all of your data within the app, or uninstall the app to remove all data entirely.
- Right to data portability — Your data is stored locally and can be exported or backed up through your device's file management tools.
- Right to restriction of processing — No automated processing or profiling takes place.
Because all data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted to IronFrame Studio, we act as a provider of the tool, not as a data controller of your personal data. You are in full control of your data at all times.
Children's Privacy
HiveTrack is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. Since no personal data is collected from any user, this concern does not arise in practice.
Future Changes
We plan to introduce optional cloud synchronisation in a future version of HiveTrack. If and when this feature is added:
- It will be strictly opt-in — local-only storage will remain the default.
- This privacy policy will be updated before any such feature is released.
- You will be clearly informed about what data would be synced and how it would be protected.
- Appropriate consent mechanisms will be implemented in compliance with GDPR.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
